Arley House- Best b&b in town
Having spend many a weekend at the foot of the mourne mountains i have stayed in numerous different bed and breakfasts in the area and our stay in Arley House has been by far my favourite! Great owners, a lovely house, an adorable dog and a perfect location! The free taxi service also was the shot!
My parents and sister stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast for my wedding. we got a very warm welcome and the rooms and showers were very clean. we got to know the owners and were greeted by their son as “hello Guest”. we had good fresh breakfast every morning and it has a good family feeling being there. they were fantastic with us and they have good local knowledge and they also offer a cab service if needed.they could not be more helpful. we also met the lovely “Duke”, really cute and i recommend this place highly. Very reasonably priced and i was given a wedding gift as well. wonderful owners, wonderful place. My parents are still raving about the wonderful hosts back in Africa…
Room Tip: both rooms are great…and you just have to meet “Duke”

Stayed August 2011, travelled with family
We stumbled upon this B&B as we were headed to the Mourne Mountains and are so thankful we stayed here. We were originally planning to stay just one night, but decided to stay an extra night because we were so comfortable. The rooms are beautiful with wood decor, and we felt it had more privacy than other B&Bs we’d stayed at on this trip. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious, and made to order. The breakfast room was bright and cheery too. Our host was extremely friendly and made sure we were comfortable and happy.
The location was great because Dundrum isn’t far from the Mourne Mountains where there’s lots of hiking and stunning scenery. Dundrum also sits long the coast so you can enjoy the water as you’re driving along. Our host also told us about Dundrum Castle in town, which is a ruined castle that was fun to explore. We had a fabulous time here and would recommend this B&B to anyone.
I had a feeling we would like this place even if it were a dump bases on the witty exchanges we had with the owners via e-mail prior to arriving.
Without a doubt, this was a nice, clean, accommodating location for a quick one night stop on our journey. The hosts couldn’t have been nicer, including “Duke” who was the first one at our car door. Lacking thumbs and long legs he couldn’t assist with moving luggage, but his kisses helped cure any doggie lonesomeness we were going through. The room was great, the breakfast was also most wonderful and laughing with the family was certainly appreciated.
This was a fine choice for a quick overnight. We were directed wonderfully to find the local sites of interest and good dining options. I understand why the owners children love playing in the castle ruins and created a couple of fantastic fantasies myself as we explored the site. Our dinner that night had to have been one of the best of the entire trip.
All in all, a fine bargain, a clean room, good breakfast and very nice hosts. Miss ya Duke!

We were warmly received at Arley House and shown to a lovely double room with en-suite. A full cooked breakfast was served at a time to suit us and was just what we needed to set us up for the day. In the evening we walked into Dundrum to sample the excellent local restaurants. This is a great place to stay in a truly beautiful area.
On business in the area, decided that since the weather was appalling we would stay overnight, on recommendation of the folk that we were there to see; we presented at the Arley house door. Welcomed like old friends, advised of a good place to eat, (no evening meals available in house) we later returned to a warm spotless room with a sparkling clean en-suite. Outside the wind and rain swept over the coast as we relaxed, drank the tea provided, chatted to our host, before retiring to our room to watch tv and read awhile before bed. A very comfortable bed at that! with proper bed linen. In the morning we awoke to a better day (more suited to a long drive) and had a truly great breakfast before settling a modest bill and heading southward. To summarise, a great warm welcome, a near perfect room, a perfect breakfast. What more is there.
